I recently made my white mulled wine sangria for book club and it was such a hit that I thought I'd share how to make it on here!
The book we read this time was The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, a Gothic mystery set in Barcelona during and after the Franco years. I loved the book (which I had actually read 20 years ago but couldn't remember much about other than liking it) and it's kept me great company all through summer.
Anyway, being set in Barcelona we naturally had to go a little Spanish – think croquettes, Manchego cheese and, of course, being a typical hot and muggy February evening a sangria was a no-brainer!
My white mulled wine sangria is a really fun take on a traditional sangria. It has spice, fruit and sweetness. And it’s ridiculously easy!
You will need:
1-2 nectarines
half a punnet of strawberries
handful of grapes
bottle of white mulled wine
250-500ml lemonade (to taste)
a pitcher
I started by chopping the fruit and putting them in a pitcher. Then I poured a bottle of my white mulled wine over them and put the pitcher in the fridge until everyone arrived (if consuming straight away, chill the wine first). Then top the pitcher up with the lemonade, to taste, right before serving so you don't loose any fizz! Again, make sure the lemonade is chilled.
You could also finish off with some green garnish, like mint or even basil!
Salud!
